COMMON: Mountain-Laurel
LEAVES: Alternate, simple, evergreen, 2 to 5" long, 1 to 1.5" wide, dark green
SIZE: 7 to 15', similar in spread, some can grow larger
HARDINESS: Zone 4 to 9
HABIT: Shrub, dense, becomes more open with age
GROWTH RATE: Slow
FLOWERS: Excellent flower, white to pink with some variations, May to June, 4 to 6"
FRUIT: Not significant
SOILS: Requires acid, cool, moist, well drained soil
LIGHTING: Full sun to deep shade, however flowers better in full sun
USES: Shady borders, mass, accent
MAINTENANCE: Best with groundcover and mulch to help improve soil favor ability

There are many dwarf cultivars. Many of these shrubs only grow from 2 to 6 feet tall depending on the cultivar selected.
