Buddleia davidii
COMMON: Butterfly-bush
LEAVES: Opposite, simple, 4 to 10" long, 1 to 3" wide, serated, graish green, color varies amoung cultivars
SIZE: 5 to 10' tall, compact varieties available
HARDINESS: Zone 5 to 9
HABIT: Large arching shrub, may prune to ground
GROWTH RATE: Fast, when cut to ground will grow 5' plus
FLOWERS: June, lilac, 4 t0 10" long, cut of old and plant will rebloom, flowers on new years growth - consider cutting to ground in early spring
Fruit: Not significant
SOILS: Moist, well-drained soils best, however, is adaptable
LIGHTING: Full sun best
USES: Add to shrub and perennial beds, mass plantings, attracts butterflies and bees
MAINTENANCE: None serious
